Irish Genealogy Workshop at Heritage Mississauga

Heritage Mississauga—in conjunction with the Halton-Peel Branch of the OGS—will present an all-day Irish Genealogy Workshop with Ruth Blair on Saturday, February 21st, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Robinson Adamson House, 1921 Dundas Street West in Mississauga.

Topics will be -

Taking Your Irish Ancestors Back over the Pond

and

Researching your Irish Family History From Afar

The cost is $25, and registration must be paid in advance by calling Heritage Mississauga at 905-828-8411, ext. 0 or by email info@heritagemississauga.org.

Heritage Mississauga was stated in 1960 by a small group of volunteers. Known then as the Toronto Township Historical Foundation, the charitable organization supported the move of the Bradley House to its present location, and worked to open the as the area’s first museum.

From its offices known at "The Grange"—the historic Robinson-Adamson House (1921 Dundas Street West, Mississauga)—the Heritage Mississauga provides the community with a comprehensive Heritage Resource Centre.

A little-known online resource is Heritage Profiles, where you will find over 50 local residents who have written profiles at http://www.heritagemississauga.com/section/?section=17.

They also have a cemetery map at http://www.mississauga.ca/portal/residents/cemeteries, and another online resource, Mississauga; A City of Many Villages at http://www.heritagemississauga.com/section/?section=7, where one can download a map of the villages.

Searching for First World War Ancestors

Heritage Mississauga and the Halton Peel Branch of the Ontario Genealogical Society are pleased to present a full-day workshop on Saturday February 8th, 2014 at 10 am-3 pm at Historic Robinson Adamson House, 1921 Dundas St. W., Mississauga, ON. 

Professional Genealogist and Lecturer, Ruth Blair will lead the workshop, and the day will be divided into two sections –

Session 1 “In Search of Your First World War Ancestors”

Was your ancestor in the First World War? Resources to find military records will be presented whether he be from Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia or the United States. If your First World War ancestor was a woman we will also be discussing resources to find service records for women who served at home or on the front.

Session 2: “You Won’t Find it All in Your Ancestor’s First World War Military File”

We will be discussing other resources to help you find out more about your ancestor’s experience in the First World War. You won’t find it all in the military file. These resources will help you build a better picture of what your ancestor and his family went through during the First World War.

Irish Genealogy Workshop in Mississauga



The Halton Peel Branch of the Ontario Genealogical Society, and the Heritage Mississauga present an Irish Genealogy Workshop on Saturday, April 13, 2013 from 10-4 at the Grange, 1921 Dundas Street West, Mississauga.

Breaking Down the Barriers – Hands-On Genealogy Workshop


Heritage Mississauga and the Halton Peel Branch of the Ontario Genealogical Society are pleased to present Breaking Down the Barriers, on Saturday November 3rd, 10 am-4 pm, the fourth in their series of Genealogy Days.

This session is a hands-on workshop for those who have hit brick walls in their research. An esteemed panel of three professional workshop facilitators with over 80 years combined experience in genealogy research will provide personal consultations to participants.

Fawne Stratford-Devai, Dorothy Kew, and Jane Watt will be the special speakers.

This is the exciting part of the announcement - For just $10 per ½ hour session participants will meet personally with a consultant who will help them break down barriers to finding their ancestor. Call to reserve your seat today, space is limited. Reservations must be prepaid

Genealogy Workshop


The Halton-Peel Branch of the Ontario Genealogical Society and Heritage Mississauga invite you to attend a Genealogy Workshop featuring co-star of television’s "Ancestors in the Attic," Fawne Stratford-Devai on Saturday, September 8th, 2012 at The Grange, 1921 Dundas Street West, Mississauga.

The workshop will cover two sessions:

• Early Ontario Birth Marriage and Death Records

• Leaving Ontario – Resources for Tracking Migrants
